Aggression issues are often caused by a lack of understanding and communication. Without trust, discipline and respect many dogs will resort to instinctual forms of aggression, such as resource guarding, protective aggression, and more.
Aggression must be addressed in layers and typically takes longer than our other programs.
How It Works
For dogs with a history of aggression or biting, training begins with a comprehensive evaluation. This allows us to better understand the dog's behavior, triggers, history, and individual needs and determine the safest and most appropriate training plan.
Building trust and clear communication comes first. From there, we work toward greater stability, neutrality, and reliable obedience while addressing the underlying patterns contributing to the dog's behavior. Because meaningful behavior change takes time, dogs accepted into our aggression-focused Board & Train program require a minimum four-week stay.
Owner education is an essential part of the process. We help families understand their dog's behavior, recognize potential triggers, reinforce training, and establish realistic expectations for life after the program. A history of aggression requires continued awareness and responsible management, even when significant progress has been made.
