Advisory Council

Lora Nix and our team has successfully trained and rehabilitated 1,000s of dogs over the past 30 years. But our mission goes beyond that. In a increasingly complex and digital world, we want to empower and build resilience through human-K9 connections and community.

Windy Ridge K9’s Advisory Council brings together individuals who share a commitment to helping dogs, people, and communities become more resilient. Drawing on diverse expertise across medicine, public policy, psychology, child and youth development, education, social impact, and community building, Council members advise Windy Ridge’s holistic evolution as a Ranch where people come to connect with nature and animals and find rest, purpose and healing.

The Windy Ridge K9 Difference

At Windy Ridge K9, we help dogs develop the skills they need to successfully navigate the world around them. Every dog faces different challenges. Some need help with obedience, while others struggle with fear, reactivity, aggression, grooming, car rides, socialization, confidence, or simply learning how to live peacefully within a family. Whatever the challenge, our goal is to help dogs become more capable, confident, and adaptable in everyday life. We believe training is about more than commands. It is about teaching dogs how to handle the situations they encounter throughout their lives while giving owners the knowledge and confidence to guide them. What truly sets Windy Ridge apart is the support that continues beyond training. Our team and community are here to encourage, educate, and guide owners through the ups and downs of life with their dogs. Whether you need answers to questions, help navigating new challenges, or a community that understands your journey, you are never left to figure it out alone.

Life at Windy Ridge K9

Nestled on three acres in Cleburne, Texas, Windy Ridge K9 provides dogs with the space, structure, and experiences they need to thrive. With open fields to explore, opportunities for structured socialization, and real-world training experiences, every part of our program is designed to help dogs build confidence and develop practical life skills. Whether learning to relax around distractions, ride comfortably in the car, walk politely in public, enjoy grooming, or interact appropriately with other dogs, our focus is always on preparing dogs for everyday life. Training happens both on and off the training field because life doesn’t happen in a controlled environment. Our goal is to help dogs become adaptable, capable companions who can confidently navigate the world around them.
